The QPA (formerly Quick Printers Association) and GASAA delivered a digital technology update night in Sydney at what was a considerably well attended event. Both QPA and GASAA are hailing the event a complete success, with nine digital print manufacturers presenting the latest and greatest from their respective stables, and are looking to emulate this success with a similar event in Melbourne in the near future.

Representatives from Danka, Hewlett-Packard, Fuji Xerox, Océ, Minolta, Konica, Canon, Heidelberg and Epson gave an insight into their technologies, ranging from low-end digital copiers through to high-end digital presses and even wide-format products. All had the same message – that there is a lot of money to be made n digital printing, but the right choices have to be made.

According to Garry Knespal, QPA secretariat, it was pleasing to see such a strong turnout for what was a challenging forum to put together, and that attendees came from such a wide spectrum of industry segments.

"The night covered a lot of products and gave some good product segment differentiation, and was a great opportunity to bring a sense of what is out there to the print for pay market," says Knespal.

"You can look for an independent person to talk to about these things, but they are few and far between, so the next best thing is to get such a potpourri of vendors together and see what they have to offer."
