Enfocus sales account manager and Ghent PDF Workgroup communications officer Saskia Desmet recently completed a tour of Australia, promoting the Enfocus line of PDF development solutions and training chosen resellers in the software. Desmet also took the time to hold court with GASAA and Panpa, outlining the developments in PDF creation and management that have taken place recently in Europe. The Enfocus Pitstop Professional and Pitstop Server products have been landmarks of the Australian printing and graphic arts industry for some time now, having installations at ACP, News Limited and Fairfax, among many other prepress establishments. ìThe purpose of my visit firstly was visiting some magazines. Secondly we are going to certify some resellers which means training and giving them some additional information so we know that we have resourced our resellers with some added value,î explains Desmet. ìAnother important part of the visit is visiting some of the graphic arts associations while Iím over here, just to inform them about what has been happening in Europe.Topics covered at the Panpa and GASAA visits include Enfocusí Certified PDF workflow, which is a process involving the automated development of a logging system that tracks any changes made and by who they are made after initial PDF creation.
The work of the Ghent PDF Workgroup, a newly formed international assembly of industry associations whose goal will be to develop and maintain Certified PDF Quality Standards for the publishing and printing industry, was also discussed.
Currently, Postscript Solutions is the primary provider of Pitstop software in Australia.
