Epson's Stylus Pro 400 series deliver speed and quality beyond proof
“These printers have been specifically designed for on demand short run printing that requires quick turn around with assured colour reliability and endurance,” ssys Craig.
As a result, the Stylus Pro 400 series provides high productivity without compromising on the final print quality, for precise architectural, engineering and construction drawings, vibrant retail point-of-sale displays, detailed maps and charts, and attractive teaching tools.
The Stylus Pro 400 series is equipped with HDI drivers for creating accurate 2D and 3D line drawings (up to +/-0.2 per cent accuracy), 3D images and colour graphics. The printers also have large professional media handling capabilities and high data throughput for fast output.
The Stylus Pro 400 range features four individual high capacity 110ml (optional 220ml also available) UltraChrome pigment ink cartridges in Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Matte Black to deliver high quality photos, vibrant coloured maps, stand out posters and point of sale displays and technical line drawings.
Using UltraChrome ink on Epson’s recommended media means all prints are water and fade resistant allowing a wide variety of indoor and outdoor uses.
With graphic arts and design professionals in mind, the printers have a maximum true resolution of up to 1440 dpi. The new 1 inch wide Micro Piezo print head with 180 nozzles per colour, greatly improves printing speed by increasing the printable area for each pass of the print head while maintaining high image quality.
The 400 series uses Epson’s patented Variable Sized Droplet Technology (VSDT), which varies the ink droplet size according to the desired printing area, with droplet volumes down to 3.5 picolitres. This not only improves the uniformity of ink coverage across the print surface and produces fine detail and great colour gradation it also increases print speed.
Epson’s LFP Remote Panel Software Utility will assist users in remotely tracking important print job information, such as job status and history, as well as monitoring printer maintenance and material waste.
Craig says that while these printers are not primarily designed for proofing, they do an excellent job of producing newspaper proofs as they handle newsprint so well.
“Other printers have trouble creating vibrant colours and deep blacks on newsprint, but the Stylus Pro 400 Series with UltraChrome pigment ink does it brilliantly. Epson’s matte black ink technology responds beautifully to the newsprint to give a realistic newspaper proof.”
