Seminars will provide information to ensure employers remained in control of key issues, including initial hiring responsibilities, salary packaging, practical payroll administration and termination procedures - Greg Parkes
Everything business owners need to know about WorkChoices will be revealed in a series of seminars being run by Printing Industries across Australia from May 8. The seminars begin in Sydney and Perth on May and will be delivered in all capital cities nationally throughout May.
They will tackle many of the issues you have read or heard in the media including:
1. Unfair dismissal exemptions, tips and traps under the new laws;
2. What new records must be kept in respect to the starting and finishing time of your employees?
3. Do you need to make changes to your payroll systems to deal with the new minimum entitlements for pay and conditions?
4. Do you have updated policies on termination of employment to take into account the WorkChoices changes?
5. What are the things you can and should not include in any new workplace agreements?
Printing Industries national director, Employee Relations, Greg Parkes, says the seminars will provide information to ensure employers remained in control of key issues, including initial hiring responsibilities, salary packaging, practical payroll administration and termination procedures.
“Our seminars will cover the full spectrum of the new workplace relations regulations operative from 27 March 2006,” he adds.
“Understanding and implementing workplace agreements is crucial for successful business management. Our practical seminars will help you to better understand, structure, maintain, vary, or terminate flexible workplace agreements and contracts."
Parkes says that under WorkChoices managing harassment and discrimination issues had become crucial in relation to dismissals.
“All employers need to address and prevent workplace conflict and so must have the appropriate safeguards built into their management structure. You may need to develop a harassment and discrimination prevention program, better understand the current legislation or resolve a situation that currently exists in your workplace.
“You cannot afford to miss these seminars,” says Parkes.
“Printing Industries Employee Relations professionals will give you the insight to achieve this and safeguard your business.”
The seminars are open to all industry companies. Printing industries Members can attend free. Non Members will be charged $100 per participant.
