FXP and Amcor recognised
Fuji Xerox Printers (FXP) and Amcor are among a select group of companies that were recently recognised by the Australian Environmental Labelling Association for their efforts in producing machinery and consumables deemed to be environmentally sound. The Good Environmental Choice Product accreditations were awarded at a luncheon in Sydney, where invited guests were given the opportunity to have a closer inspection of each awarded product.
FXP was awarded the accreditation for its Phaser 8200 solid ink printer, for its use of ink that contains no hazardous chemicals or solvents, and its ability to produce minimal wastage. It is the first colour printer in Australia to receive this accreditation.
"We are proud of this achievement and proud to be the first printing vendor in Australia to prove that excellent printing quality and capabilities need not be compromised when opting to work with the environment," says Clare Tipler, Fuji Xerox Printers ANZ marketing manager.
"I am certain that this is an important standard now set for the Australian printer industry which more companies will recognize and endeavour to comply with."
For Amcor, its Artcoat Grey, Eco-Cote, Starcote Laminating and Artcote Kraft products all received accreditation, and are produced at Amcor’s Petrie Mill. The mill uses 140,000 tonnes of recycled paper per year, gathered from collection points throughout Australia.
According to Petar Johnson, Australian Environmental Labelling Association president, "The four verified products are leading examples of pragmatic production and environmental design delivering to the Australian and international markets a product that has a fraction of the environmental load of similar products from other sources."
