Cut: Avery Dennison stops Geon labelstock supply

Geon’s major labelstock supplier Avery Dennison has joined fine paper merchants by stopping supply to the embattled print group, heightening pressure on the company.

Geon has a significant label printing business in both Australia and New Zealand, with digital and flexo output.  Avery Dennison is one of its principal labelstock suppliers

David Martin, vice president and general manager Asia Pacific says, “Avery Dennison has made its position clear. There will be no further supply until the current debt is repaid.”

In a letter to the trade sent out via the i-grafix.com website late Friday Avery Dennison says it is ‘puzzled and disappointed’ by the reported approach of Geon’s owners in ‘attempting to walk away from its obligations.’

The company says it ‘cannot support Geon’s reported approach, and that ‘collecting the debt owed to it is its primary concern’. Martin says he is keen to ensure the trade is aware of his company;’s posotion, as he has had ‘many’ phone calls about it.
