Graphic Systems Australasia (GSA) recently completed a highly successful first year as the exclusive agent for the Fuji range of graphic arts products in Australia and New Zealand. GSA marked the first anniversary of its launch with a national sales conference and dinner for staff and suppliers held in Sydney. The week-long conference was an opportunity for staff to find out about the latest product developments and take stock of the company’s achievements over the past year.Peter Carrigan, GSA general manager, says, "The past 12 months have been an incredibly busy time for all concerned, what with the start up of the new company from scratch and taking on a major agency such as Fujifilm. The conference and dinner were a means of saying thank you and well done to everybody for all their hard work so far, as well as a chance to focus on developments for the coming months in the lead up to drupa and PacPrint next year.
"The most impressive aspect of the conference was seeing just how enthusiastic and focused all the participants were. It was plain to see that everybody is very satisfied with how things are progressing and are keen to keep moving in the same direction."
GSA was set up in early 2003 by Intergrafica Print & Pack as a stand-alone company operating exclusively in the prepress sector. Looking back over the company’s achievements since making its debut last April, Peter Carrigan is pleased with the way the company has been able to do business from day one.
"We started on time with new premises and new product and we haven’t let anybody down. That’s been one of the most satisfying aspects from a business perspective. We really are focused on providing a dedicated prepress service to our customers so it’s particularly gratifying to see the number of people in the industry who have been prepared to stick with us and see what we could deliver. I’d like to think that, over the past 12 months, we’ve been able to demonstrate that we are a genuine force in the prepress sector and that we’re here to stay," says Carrigan.
"It says something about the impact we’ve made that even our competitors are prepared to acknowledge that we’ve been successful as a start-up company in this sector."
Other highlights for the company over the year include more than 20 installations of computer-to-plate systems throughout Australia and New Zealand, underlining the company’s reputation for expertise in the delivery and installation of complete prepress workflows and production systems.
"We’re also very pleased with the number of new agencies we’ve been able to announce over the past year, reinforcing our position as a complete supplier to the prepress sector," added Peter Carrigan. "We now have an extensive portfolio of leading suppliers covering every aspect of prepress production including consumables, workflow, software, proofing and a wide range of input and output hardware.
"We will be sending a strong team of representatives to drupa in May to focus on sourcing the best possible products and services to meet our customers needs in the local market."
In recognition of the company’s achievements since start up, Fujifilm recently presented GSA with an achievement award for productivity and sales during its first 12 months.
