Former production manager of Doran Printing in Melbourne, Shaun Hammersley has purchased the company from his friend Shane Doran.
Hammersley has worked for Doran Printing for more than 25 years and is expecting the next 25 years to be equally as exciting. He says, “It was a long, thought out decision, especially knowing how tough the industry is, but Shane Doran has built up a strong business with long term clients, and watching it grow from strength to strength each year has made the decision easier. It has been amazing to see the technology change so much and so quickly over the years I have been in the industry.”
All 14 staff will be retained at the Braeside based business, which lists the Catholic Church as one of its main customers. Shane Doran will continue with the company for the next two years, albeit ina decreasing role.
Doran Printing produces newsletters, annual reports, form folders and general stationary be it offset or digitally printed, it has a modern suite of equipment, including a Lithrone Komori 529, a four-colour perfecting Komori and two A3 sized machines. Hammersley is happy with the equipment he has to work with but would to update his digital machine in the near future.
Hammersley says, “The back bone to any business is its clients and staff. All the staff at Doran Printing has continued on with the business change over, many of them have been part of the business for more than 10 years. We have a lot of long term clients who continue to grow which allows us to grow with them. We offer them quality, service and that personal touch which can make all the difference.”
