Not since England’s victory over Germany in the 1966 Soccer World Cup have English and German Soccer players come together for such an important occasion. PrintCity‘s hall at drupa will be the place to be when former international football stars descend on the trade show for a talk show at the SunChemical stand and then a match at a nearby stadium on Tuesday, May 11.Former German national players Dieter Müller, Uli Stein and Rolf Rüssmann, and ex-England stars Tony Woodcock and Viv Anderson will be in the line-up for the SunChemical Germany versus SunChemical Rest of the World game.
Former FIFA and UEFA referee Wolf-Dieter Ahlenfelder will officiate at the game that follows a Football Talkshow being held on the SunChemical stand in PrintCity’s Hall 6.
There, the footballers and match officials will be part of the hour-long talk show starting at 3pm. Rainer Holzschuh, chief editor of Kicker sports magazine, will be the presenter. Included will be a charity auction for a Real Madrid shirt personally signed by David Beckham, the England captain. Proceeds will be in aid of Rainbow Land, a small hospital for critically ill children.
Then the players will sign autographs before walking to the small ground close to Düsseldorf Rheinstadion.
Wes Lucas, Chairman, SunChemical president and CEO, and David Meldram, SunChemical European Inks senior vice-president, will lead out the players for the match.
The contact with the players was through event organiser Rainer Buss, SunChemical Systems European marketing and communications manager, who is best friends with German football legend Müller, whose record-breaking exploits include scoring six goals in one Bundesliga match.
Buss says, "Football is an important part of the social constitution within the printing industry. Drupa is going to be full of printing machines, solutions, JDF, CTP and other technology, so the match will be a welcome relief and another chance for people to enjoy themselves."
Rainer Kuhn, PrintCity managing director, says "Having these players on the SunChemical stand is another very good reason why Hall 6 is the place to visit!"
