Konica Minolta, a global leader in the field of imaging, following a merger of the former Konica and Minolta operations late last year, is mounting a major digital printing presence at drupa 2004. The company’s new management philosophy, The Creation of New Value, with its new corporate message, "The Essentials of Imaging", enshrines the vision of Konica Minolta becoming an innovative organisation continuing to create inspiring products and services in the imaging arena.

Featured at the exhibition will be a range of new price points, designed to add considerably more value to digital colour printing for both the print-for-pay and print centre markets.

A major drawcard will be the new version of the popular 50 page/min Konica Minolta 8050 Digital Colour Production System, recently released in Australia.

The Konica Minolta 8050 is able to address shorter quality print runs previously uneconomic because of limitations set by older-generation colour print systems.

At the same time, it cuts print production costs by allowing greater day-to-day user control over this work.

Features include a paper capacity of up to 4250 sheets in five trays, handling of paper sizes up to A3+, (A3 over-sized - 320x 457), handling of paper weights to a maximum 256gsm, scanning and printing resolutions of 600dpi, and automatic stackless duplexing and scan-ahead job reservation.

Most important is the toner refill system. Konica Minolta’s “toner-refill-on-the-fly” technology minimises interruptions to document production runs, thanks to Konica Minolta’s innovative new Digital Polymerized Toner system, and allows many of the maintenance procedures to
be handled on the spot by the user.

In addition, Konica Minolta will be showcasing:
* The processless thermal CTP system, claimed to be the world’s first real processless system designed for shorter run printing businesses. This system provides
many advantages, including cost savings on plate making, consistently high quality, enormous space saving, easy plate handling and a range of environmental improvements.
* The Digital Konsensus Pro. This digital halftone proofing system – with an installed base of about 700 units in Japan, making it the No 1 system in high-end proofing – employs unique silver halide laser colour technology.
* TruePress 244 system, featuring Konica Minolta’s Processless Plate, a new thermal CTP plate and micro-porous inkjet papers designed to deliver the highest quality inkjet output and proofing.
* Remote Colour Checking System, now making remote colour checking possible
anywhere in the world.
