The Swiss Ambassador to Germany, His Excellency Dr. Werner Baumann made a special visit to Lüscher’s stand at drupa 2004 to celebrate the receipt of the 500th order for the Swiss manufacturer’s 500th Xpose! Thermal CTP system. French printer Groupe ACTIS was the company that made the milestone possible, with Alexander Buzdugan, the Group’s industrial director, receiving a commemorative certificate from Baumann to mark the occasion.

To commemorate the landmark delivery, Hans Lüscher, the Swiss company’s proprietor, together with Jean-Pierre Moretti, president of Lüscher’s local distributor Drytone, also presented Buzdugan with a painting by the Italian Maestro Enzo Pituello, a scholar of Lucio Fontano who is renowned as the founder of the acclaimed spatial art movement.

Groupe ACTIS was formed in 2001 with the merging of two reputed French printing houses, Berger-Levrault and Maulde & Renou. The Group specialises in the production of catalogues in general as well as mass distribution material for supermarkets, books and magazines. The Group employs 450 people and recorded a turnover of around EUR57m in 2003.

According to Moretti, the order was for two XPose! Units, being the 29th and 30th in France, corresponding to the 499th and 500th worldwide. Both systems are XPose! 160 models with a maximum plate size of 1700x1370mm and both are equipped with robotic Plate Handling Systems.

Lüscher’s range of CTP systems is supplied locally by Ferag Australia.
