Heidelberg Australia and New Zealand (HAN) has appointed new product managers for Packaging (John Harrison) and Sheetfed Press (Lindsay Barnes). In preparation for this role as product manager – Sheetfed Press, Barnes undertook a twelve month training and development secondment with Heidelberg Germany and returned to Australia in July. He is based at HAN’s Melbourne head office.Barnes will be the company’s product driver for sheetfed offset printing presses and will provide an important link between Heidelberg’s customers and the factory. He will work closely with HAN’s sales, customer support and business development divisions, as well as colleagues from Heidelberg’s German factory and sheetfed product management teams.
Barnes has worked for HAN for the past eleven years, most recently in the role of account manager at the company’s Sydney office. He brings to the role a wealth of experience and knowledge of the local market, HAN’s customers and it’s products. During his secondment to Germany, Barnes undertook extensive product training to further complement the knowledge he gained as an account manager.
The position of product manager – Packaging has been created in response to the Heidelberg’s global strategy to focus on the growth and development of the packaging market and the carton segment in particular. Harrison, who hails from the UK, took up this newly created role in July.
Harrison ran his own successful business, Key Capital Equipment, for the past ten years in the UK, representing European and US manufacturers supplying finishing and converting equipment to the graphic arts and packaging industries within the UK and Ireland.
Harrison has relocated to Australia with his wife and two teenage children and is based at HAN’s Melbourne head office. As well as settling into his new role, Harrison looks forward to enjoying his first summer in Australia.
Glenn Plummer, HAN general manager – Product Management and Marketing, says of the two appointments, "On a global level HAN is an important market for Heidelberg. This is shown in the support we have received in training Lindsay during his secondment and also in establishing the new role of product manager – Packaging.
"These two appointments complete HAN’s product management team, complimenting our incumbent Pre Press (Prinect), Post Press and Consumables product managers. We are excited about the business opportunities that will to arise from our focus in these areas, and the way in which these new roles further strengthen our relationship with, and support, our customers."
