Tough times in the printing industry have claimed another industry scalp, with NSW print service and engineering business Plunkett and Johnson in voluntary administration.

Operations at the well known company owned by Alex Imre and Steve Farrell have ceased with the appointment of Dean Wilcox Shephard as the administrators, which has said it is too early to say how P&J’s ongoing maintenance contracts will play out.

The company serviced many leading printers, including Hannanprint, and also supplied various equipment, including press controls form QuadTech.

Some 15 staff are expected to lose their jobs, but are likely to receive their entitlements. P&J has been in business for more than 30 years, servicing commercial web, newspaper and sheetfed printers
