According to Chris Cochrane, Printcost managing director, the decision to close the facility is purely due to the cost of running what he believes to be an unnecessary part of the business.
"We have been in Australia for the past 15 years and we will continue to operate here. During this time, 80 per cent of the technical support has been done from the head office in New Zealand," says Cochrane.
"Most of our customers didn’t deal with the Australian office anyway, so most of our customers wont even notice the difference."
The Australian support office employed a single support employee, who according to Cochrane, has made alternative employment arrangements.
