Melbourne’s RMIT University has made a deal with private training provider CLB Training and Development to take on the graphic arts courses.
The courses were previously offered by the university’s International Centre of Graphic Technology (ICGT) centre, but this will be shut down next year.
Simon Cochaud, director of RMIT's International Centre of Graphic Technology says “There is no change to the suite of training programs which can be offered via the training package. The change is the entry of a new training provider into the market.”
The CLB is focused on delivering TAFE-level qualifications, specifically apprentice level training, however RMIT will continue to offer its existing bachelor programs in media and communication.
David Ganz, marketing and communications, RMIT University says “CLB entering the market will provide a quality training option for the Industry in Victoria and Tasmania which will allow the industry to continue to meet its need for skilled employees into the future.”
Gary Cobbledick, managing director, CLB says “We believe that the flexible, workplace-based, training delivery model offered by CLB will provide the industry with a sound, ongoing training option for the print and graphic arts sector following RMIT’s decision to discontinue pre-press, printing and print finishing training.”
CLB will initially offer the following programs:
- Certificate III in Printing and Graphic Arts (Pre-Press), Apprenticeship
- Certificate III in Printing and Graphic Arts (Printing), Apprenticeship
- Certificate III in Printing and Graphic Arts (Print Finishing), Apprenticeship
- Certificate III in Printing and Graphic Arts (Screen Printing), Apprenticeship
- Diploma of Printing and Graphic Arts (Digital Production)
