Ryobi’s drupa presence was marked by the appearance of a spate of new and recently developed presses, including its brand new next generation DI digital offset press. The first of the new Ryobi 3404X-DI A3 digital offset presses are planned for installation toward the end of the year. The 3404X-DI follows on from the 3404DI, which Ryobi launched at drupa. The company describes it as a ‘sister model’ that addresses the requirement for higher-level applications, with press enhancements that give higher quality results.

At the heart of the press is the ProFire Excel Imaging System, Presstek’s new imaging system, which uses a 16 micron laser spot size and produces ultra high quality, supporting both AM and FM screening.

Another Ryobi innovation at drupa is the introduction of additional high end A3-plus size offset presses. The four, five and six colour presses come with semi-high pile delivery, which can incorporate an in-line coating system. The presses are known as the 520GX series and feature an independently driven anilox roller and the possibility to incorporate both an infrared drying system and UV curing unit.

Also on display at durpa were two eight colour perfecting presses, first released at IGAS 2003. The 688P and 758P allow four colour printing, front and back, in one pass. The presses are based on a proven convertible perfecting mechanism and can switch easily between eight colour straight printing and 4/4 colour perfecting, Ryobi says.
