Karl Saueressig, 52, has been appointed head of worldwide Product Line Management at Heidelberg, succeeding Bent Mortensen, who now heads the Asia-Pacific region at Heidelberg. Saueressig says in his new role he will oversee the offset, Computer to Plate, Prinect Workflow and used equipment sectors. He will also support Heidelberg markets and market sectors in launching new products and provides a point of contact between Development and Sales.

"In the print media industry, the success of a manufacturer like Heidelberg depends on its ability to identify customer requirements in time, incorporate them into new products, and launch them onto the market quickly. That’s where my team and I intend to provide the cutting edge,” says Saueressig.

He has been with the company since the 1970s and has headed up Heidelberg’s operations in Taiwan and then Osaka; headed sales and marketing for the Speedmaster series SM/CD 102; took charge of the Linotype-Hell sales organisation in Eschborn and integrated the company into the Heidelberg Group; and led the Heidelberg branch in Munich.

Saueressig’s most recent position was as Managing Director of Heidelberger Druckmaschinen Vertrieb Deutschland GmbH (HDD).
