Ink manufacturer The Siegwerk Group is rating its appearance at drupa this year as a complete success, saying it welcomed several thousand customers and new prospective customers as guests at its booth. The numerous visitors primarily from abroad confirmed that the Siegwerk Group has succeeded in becoming a global player and has established itself as a globally operating company with a personal profile.Herbert Forker, Siegwerk Group president and CEO, says, "The drupa fair was a great success for us. The high number of visitors especially from abroad surpassed our expectations. With the purchase of the US printing ink manufacturer Color Converting (CCI) we have finally established ourselves as a global player in the world market. At the same time we have remained a strongly customer-oriented company with dedication and a personal touch. Also medium-sized customers can turn to us as a competent partner that provides comprehensive customer service."
In 2003 the Siegwerk Group, including the added business of CCI, made net sales of EUR388m – an increase of 24 per cent compared with the previous year.
The corporate management has planned additional investments of EUR200m until 2008. In addition to this, further investments amounting to EUR70m are planned for the company headquarters in Siegburg until 2006. The German location near Cologne is believed to be the largest printing ink factory worldwide and will supply the European market in the future as well. Further large production sites are located in the US and Thailand.
