Willem Swiggers, Agfa-Dotrix Asia Pacific business development manager, has been in the country this month, clarifying to the local market as to what the recent purchase of the dotrix company by Agfa means for local distribution of the the.factory product. Prior to the purchase, which sees dotrix come on board with Agfa as a wholly owned subsidiary, Cohesion was the distributor for dotrix in Australia and New Zealand. Swiggers has partnered with Martin Lloyd of Cohesion to bring into view the new relationship agreements between the three parties.“The important thing is, whatever dotrix had in place as far as distribution channels for the Asia Pacific, we are now working with Agfa, which has a very powerful direct distribution network in place. It is now imperative that we see how we can make best use of the best of both worlds,” says Swiggers.
“It is never the case when you are bought by a company that the company has all the resources lined up for it. So we have been working on the integration of the two companies, and for Australia and New Zealand, Martin and Kel from Cohesion have been working with Nigel Compton at Agfa on sales and promotion".
Swiggers says that whereas in the past, Cohesion would import and take full responsibility of the equipment, but that because of the purchase by Agfa, that role was no longer needed. However, Cohesion will still take responsibility for sales and control of the products.
According to Lloyd, the last six months of bringing the good word about dotrix to the Australian market has generated a great deal of interest locally, while internationally, the fifth device has just gone into installation.
