Bestway Berk acquired and merged into growing printing business Teldon Print Media owner Volker Wagner has acquired Bestway Berk Printing for an undisclosed sum and assumed it into his existing company. This comes after the Canadian-born Wagner created a stir in the Sydney printing market in October last year, purchasing J Bell & Co, Nadley Press and Printing Headquarters, merging them into an entity called Teldon Print Media based out of Rosebery.

As part of the deal, former Bestway Berk owner Ben Cribb has been handed the role of managing director of Teldon Print Media. Following him into the company will be Bestway Berk’s employees and equipment, which includes a Heidelberg SM 74 five-colour with coater. This press will compliment the five-colour Heidelberg Speedmaster CD102 and the SM74 already on site.

According to Cribb, many of the finer details are still being worked out, but he is pleased with how the deal is progressing.

"For someone who started out with a small business at Taren Point, I am very pleased to be part of this vision that a man with such drive as Volker Wagner has, especially in what is really a terribly tough industry at the moment," says Cribb.

While Wagner is surprised at the stir he is creating and reluctant to receive such praise, he sees this acquisition as just another purchase in what he expects to be a growing list of companies that will join Teldon Print Media over the coming years and months. He sees himself performing a necessary service in an industry that is overpopulated, taking action where so far there has mostly only been talk.
