Taking Aotearoa literally, Konica Minolta has teamed up with Vocus Communications to host a Kiwi based cloud service specialising in document management saying it offers greater security than international systems.
The Vocus-hosted cloud retains all Konica Minolta customer data in New Zealand. The companies claim this provides a safer means of storage, previously unachievable with international clouds, which invite greater risk of data loss, according to the companies.
Konica Minolta adds that its software as a service (SAAS) is the first in the country to specialise in document management processes such as workflows and version control, and to include habit-forming techniques within them which intuitively store, locate and file papers frequently needed in everyday business. Josh Byers, national marketing manager for Konica Minolta New Zealand, says, “This SAAS means that you can enjoy all the benefits of document management software without having to purchase it upfront, maintain it or buy block packages of storage. You only pay for directly what you use, and reap all the advantages of an international cloud without the safety risks associated with foreign hosts.”
James Spenceley, chief executive officer at Vocus Communications, says, “Konica Minolta is an ideal partner for us in New Zealand. We are pleased that they have chosen us to host their document management cloud service and look forward to working with them.”
Greg Twiname, software solutions channel manager for Konica Minolta New Zealand says, “SAAS Capture creates the opportunity to enhance and streamline business processes, which is a main focus for Konica Minolta. The processing of both paper-based and electronic documents is often inefficient and inaccurate, if not broken. SAAS Capture (Kofax as a hosted solution) and associated workflow tools and techniques can lead to business gains for our clients, as they ensure efficiency and accuracy of data capture and the downstream processing of the digitised document and its extracted data. SAAS Capture also provides an excellent means of automated codifying of documents (via metadata) for storage into Konica Minolta’s SAAS Document Management solution. This means that documents can be correctly named, routed to appropriate folders, easily located and retrieved, and that policies for security, retention and disposal can be enforced.”
Part of Konica Minolta’s newest offering in its SAAS service and new bizhub printer range is the mimicking of smartphone social movements and techniques, which streamline the movement from home to office and make gadgetry easier to use. Examples of these movements include scrolling movements on their bizhub interfaces, and remote access capabilities that can amend any printing or software issues.
Konica Minolta’s new SAAS offering will include the Kofax Capture and Transformation software named SAAS Capture. SAAS Capture extracts data from documents and then validates that data before outputting both the data and the document image to a line of business system. SAAS Capture can be used wherever documents are used as source of data entry, including the automated processing of invoices, orders, applications and claims. The New Zealand-based cloud storage aspect of its new offering has allowed the addition of payroll document validation, which for security reasons cannot be undertaken through international clouds.
