MAN Roland has received the prestigious 2006 InterTech technology award from PIA/GATF for its InlineFoiler Prindor. This press innovation makes foil-enhanced printing significantly more profitable for printers and more accessible to their customers, the company claims. The InterTech Technology Award is one of the printing industry’s most coveted international prizes and is presented every year by PIA/GATF (Printing Industries of America/Graphic Arts Technical Foundation), the world’s largest graphic arts industry trade association.
Dr Markus Rall, member of the executive board of MAN Roland, responsible for the sheetfed business division, says the award confirms Man Roland’s philosophy of providing more inline/quick change opportunities to printers to enable them to lower their cost of production and go after new business to raise revenues.
He says the InlineFoiler Prindor adds value to a wide range of applications and after a successful European launch, more than 30 modules have already been sold worldwide.
InlineFoiler Prindor can be installed on two printing units of a ROLAND 700 press. Those units can be used for regular offset printing when InlineFoiler Prindor is not engaged.
“Packaging printers can enhance their products in a single pass. Label printers benefit from InlineFoiler Prindor’s ability to add brilliance to wine, beer, liquor, cosmetic and other specialty labels.
“Publication printers can use it to add more impact to magazine covers. And commercial printers can employ InlineFoiler Prindor to produce more compelling direct mail, business cards, annual reports, greeting cards and a host of other items,” Dr Rall says.
“Printing has to reinvent itself to compete in an increasingly crowded media marketplace,” adds Dr. Rall.
