Outstanding work portfolio: Jacob Wentholt of Amcor Flexibles Australasia
NZ’s sheetfed printing apprentices will take the first step towards competing in World Skill – the Skills Olympics later this year says Printing Industries New Zealand chief executive Joan Grace. “We will be using the network of Pride In Print judges to make that a reality. The people who train these apprentices can take pride in the excellent job they do,” she says.
She announced the decision at the recent Apprentice of the Year award which was sponsored by Agfa, Coates, CPI and UDC. The award went to Jacob Wentholt of Amcor Flexibles Australasia, based in East Tamaki, Auckland.
Jacob was chosen from finalists representing each of the areas of binding and finishing, graphic pre-press, paperboard and packaging, screen printing, sheet fed and reel fed print.
Ms Grace said his work portfolio was outstanding and like all the finalists he showed passion for his industry, loyalty to the people who had given him a start, an aptitude for progression and a clear vision of a career path.
The Pride In Print Awards are backed by principal patrons Heidelberg New Zealand, Nova Inks and Chemicals, Spicers Paper and Fuji Xerox, and 29 other sponsors.
