PrintCity has appointed Sun Chemical’s Gerry Schmidt to PrintCity’s Advisory Council, the governing body of the strategic alliance that connects global graphic arts expertise from over 40 independent companies. Working as the European heatset technical service marketing manager at Sun Chemical and based in the UK, Schmidt has more than 20 years’ experience in the printing and associated industries. He has played an active role since PrintCity was formed in 1998 and is already the chairman of the alliance’s Publishing, Commercial & Web Activity Group.

Schmidt is also jointly leading with fellow Sun Chemical employee Paul Casey a PrintCity cross-process project group that is evaluating how newspaper printers can increase revenues, in a project announced at IPEX called Value Added Printing of Newspapers.

Says Schmidt: “My appointment reaffirms Sun Chemical’s commitment to PrintCity. I look forward to playing an even more active role in the alliance’s future, helping to develop cross-industry expertise that will benefit the partners’ customers in the long run.”

John Dangelmaier, president of PrintCity, says Schmidt will lend his wide-ranging expertise to the PrintCity Advisory Council. “He is already jointly leading a group of experts working on the VAPoN© project that will establish world-class solutions to benefit their customers.”
