CTP for Ferag

Ferag  appointments  business planning  CTP
Ferag had a twin focus on its stand, the Grafix Flash consumables van and the Luscher CTP system. Explaining the move into CTP Ferag Australia managing director Marcus Haefili said that the company had already has a strong prepress prescence through its consumables supplies. Mr Haefeli said Luscher was a good fit for his company., as both were Swiss, both family owned, and more importantly both focused on bringing the highest quality products to the market/ The Luscher CTP will have its work cut out to make a mark in the Australian market though, with some very well established and strong competitors, and quality hand made Swiss equipment is not the cheapest on the market. However Ferag has already sold two systems, both to Brisbane companies; Kingswood Press and LEP taking one each. Ferag has sales and service operations in each state, and has taken on Steve Collyer to head up the CTP operation.

The Luscher CTP is a hybrid solution, with a combination of internal and external drum. One of its more interesting features is its remote diagnostic support, every 24 hours the CTP automatically communicates with Switzerland, where its performance is analysed and any actions necessary emailed back to the user. Resolution is 2540dpi, and the system uses thermal imaging technology, chosen according to Mr Haefeli because of its hard dot and sharp image. Luscher does not produce its own workflow, it is open to any, and on the Ferag stand a Cyrachrome-supplied Oris Works CTP was being used.
