Rotomec has won an unprecedented fourth Golden Cylinder Award from the Gravure Association of America (GAA). The announcement was made on Tuesday evening, 6th May during the Gala Dinner at the GAA Annual Convention in Nashville, Tennessee. This accolade for 2003 was awarded to Valmet for the Rotomec 4000-2 ES gravure printing press with Electronic Shaft (ES) system, voted as ’Best of the Best’ in its class for advanced design and technology.

The Rotomec 4000-2 ES is a high-speed rotogravure printing press which can run at up to 600m/min (1800ft/min). With automatic replacement of the printing cartridges, it is also designed for rapid job change-overs. Valmet Converting says it is an ideal solution for medium to long production runs of flexible packaging materials.

The Rotomec Electronic Shaft (ES) system reduces wastage of web substrate, inks and solvents by more than 40 per cent through precise, rapid control during registration - in both the acceleration and deceleration phases.

With other advanced technology features, Valmet Converting says the Rotomec 4000-2 ES gravure press is a robust and reliable solution for high volume production.

On three previous occasions, Rotomec has also won the prestigious GAA Golden Cylinder Award - in 1994 with the Rotopak 3000 gravure press and in 1998 with the Rotopak 3000-3R series.

In the following year, Rotomec was honoured for its successful development of the Electronic Shaft (ES) System with the Rotopak 3000-3R ES gravure press for narrow web short run solutions. All four awards have been for complete rotogravure printing press designs.
