Printing blanket manufacturer Contitech reports growth of over 10 per cent in China over the past 12 months, with its eco-friendly printing blankets.
Thomas Perkovic, head of the printing blanket segment at ContiTech, says, “We are enjoying growth despite the slight slowdown in economic growth in China and the stagnation of the offset market worldwide.”
He cites as factors in the companies above average performance as growth in products for sheet offset, packaging print, and metal decoration as well as a heightened awareness of quality and the environment. He says, “Chinese printing shops are increasingly focusing on high-quality premium products that create an even more compelling print image and are more economical because they last longer. The heightened environmental awareness is boosting demand for climate-friendly and climate-neutral printing blankets, such as those produced by ContiTech in particular.”
The company says it refrains from using solvents in production and has optimised its procedures to ensure that carbon dioxide emissions are lower than with standard products.
ContiTech claims a market share of almost 15 per cent in China in recent years and has its own service centre for the graphics industry in Shanghai. Perkovic says, “We will continue to expand and strengthen our local presence.
Active in China for 30 years, the company presently has around 2,400 employees in 10 plants around the country. It also produces hose line systems, vibration components, air springs, surface materials, conveyor belts, drive belts, or coated fabrics.
