Huntsman Corporation is opening a new $40m Asia Pacific Technology Centre in China, to develop differentiated chemicals for a variety of industries, including packaging, plastics, paints and coatings, technology and appliances.
The facility is located in Shanghai’s Minhang economic and technological development zone, and includes machine halls, laboratories and offices that accommodate up to 400 technical experts.
Anthony Hankins, Asia-Pacific CEO at Huntsman, says, “The Asia Pacific ATC investment reflects Huntsman’s long-term commitment to grow in partnership with our customers in this key market.
“We now have a world-class technology facility in Shanghai, employing talented local scientists, developing fit-for-purpose applications that are suited to the needs of our customers across the region.
“We started construction of the facility in February 2012 in close co-operation with the Shanghai Minhang United Development, and the Government of Minhang District. We appreciate their strong commitment and I sincerely thank them for all their support in the creation of this facility.”
The Shanghai centre will work in tandem with existing facilities in the US, Brussels and Belgium as well as smaller regional centres.
Huntsman currently operates more than 75 manufacturing and R&D facilities in 30 countries, and employs around 12,000 associates within five business divisions.
