Global packaging supplier Storopack is establishing a site in Pune, India, as part of its strategy to gain a foothold in developing markets.
The company says it is already working with customers in India, and will aim to provide protective packaging solutions for local and international clients looking to increase their competitiveness at a pivotal time for the Indian economy.
Frank Imkamp, president of Storopack Asia, says, “This move is another milestone in the history of our company. Storopack India is being launched at a strategically favourable time. The Indian economy is at a turning point. We are learning how to take advantage of the enormous opportunities of these developing economic regions.”
Storopack says it plans to appoint five distributors for what it deems to be India’s most important economic regions and the central region of India by the end of 2013.
The new Pune business will initially offer Storopack’s Airplus cushioning pillows and Paperplus paper padding range, with Foamplus foam cushioning packaging and other system integration services to follow.
The new 2010sqm site will contain a showroom for product presentations, offices and a workshop for equipment maintenance and repair.
The Pune venture joins Storopack’s multinational network, with locations in North America, South America, Europe and Asia, and products available through distributors in over 40 countries.
