Manuel Mataré, director of drupa and digi:media, will gradually withdraw from operational management for personal reasons, progressively handing over the projects to his successor Sabine Geldermann.
This transition phase will run until the end of the second quarter of 2013, after which time Mataré will support the drupa and digi:media teams in a consulting capacity. He says, “As hard as this step is for me, I have to slow down for health reasons. I am convinced that this solution is in the best interest of all parties involved and will ensure continued successful development of drupa and digi:media.”
Mauel Mataré has worked with Messe Düsseldorf as project director and division director for 25 years over this period he has been in charge of. Since 1994, he has been in charge of drupa and further developed the internationalisation of the trade fair in that period. His time saw drupa re-pitched as the leading international trade fair for print media, publishing and converting with a new corporate design featuring the pixel logo.
Sabine Geldermann served as a project director in charge of the leading European trade fair for advertising materials (PSI) as well as the International Franchise Fair at Blenheim International (Germany), a globally operating British exhibition organiser. Since 2009 she has been a member of Division Management at the German Engineering Association VDI (with nearly 150,000 members) where she is responsible for distribution and marketing as well as the recruitment of strategic partners. She says, “I very much look forward to this new professional challenge and am confident that my excellent network in the technical-scientific world in conjunction with my international trade fair experience are the ideal basis for this.
