Newstyle shines in SA and NT PICAs

Some 300 printers flocked to the South Australian and Northern Territory PICAs to pick up 112 gold, silver and bronze medals and a number of excellence awards, with Newstyle Printing walking off with a hatful of awards.

SANT_okThis year’s competition attracted the second-highest number of entries in ten years; the Adelaide Convention Centre was buzzing with players keen to take home a trophy or two.

Peter Mansfield, PIAA state manager in SA and the NT, says, “Thirty companies shared in the honour of winning the 2013 awards including 21 who won a gold award. It was good to see a number of first time entrants; this reinforces the value that companies continue to place on the prestige of winning a PICA award.”

Newstyle Printing came out in leaps and bounds, picking up a Media Super excellence in print award for its James Boag Promotion, in addition to five gold awards, two silvers and two bronzes.

Finsbury Green collected the Fujifilm and Fuji Xerox excellence in digital print award with its Hilton Honouring the Legacy book, as well as four gold awards, seven silvers and three bronze medals.

Openbook Howden Design & Print claimed the EML excellence in Craftsmanship Award for Jolly Good Ale and Old , a 150-year anniversary coffee table book for Coopers Brewery, and two gold awards.

Printak sailed off with the Zero Waste SA award for its Improved Resource Efficiency 2012 – 2013, while Darius Kooth of Print Graphic Displays was the winner of both the LIA Graduate of the Year and the Media Super Future Leader awards.

David Procter, general manager of production printing with Konica Minolta, was present to see three KM customers come away with awards. He tells Australian Printer, “It is always great to see printers taking pride in their craft, so I’d like to extend a big congratulations to all three clients: Arte Grafica, Kwik Kopy Norwood and Finsbury Green.
