Worldwide Hub orders new Heidelberg XL75

Perth printer Worldwide Printing Hub is installing a Heidelberg Speedmaster XL75 press, which it claims will be the highest specified  XL75 five colour press in the state.

Arnold Whiteside, managing director of Worldwide Printing Hub, says the company chose the XL75 primarily to “drive efficiencies, improve speed to market and ensure colour and quality consistency.”

The Cannington hub in Perth produces work for Worldwide Printing franchises around Australia, and has a staff of 75. Whiteside says the business enjoys the economies of scale afforded by large volumes of gang work for its client base of small to medium enterprises.

He adds, ““Eighty per cent of the jobs we produce are quick turnaround, high quality short runs. Customers are looking for a reasonably priced product without having to compromise on quality.

“The XL75 press gives us options for a fifth colour as well as coating and its speed and high level of automation means we can push through work very fast.”

The printer has opted-in to the manufacturer’s Star environmental solutions to reduce its energy consumption, consumables and waste products, and will also take on Heidelberg’s InPress Control system to improve its colour management processes.

Whiteside says, “We are able to maintain a decent standard at the moment, but there is a lot of manual intervention by the printers to change the curves to ensure reproduction is accurate. That’s why we’ve chosen InPress Control as it is a fully automated colour management solution that will make the whole process much easier, faster and ensure colour consistency.”

The press will be installed in January and commissioned in February.
