Avery Dennison’s information evening at their Auckland headquarters in August presented a strong message of innovation and technological advancement. Led by technical expert Graham Cockerton, it started with an A-Z of the pressure sensitive adhesive market. Cockerton started with a slide that addressed the question "What are pressure sensitive materials?" and finished on a considerably more technical note, three presentations later."The only stupid question is the one you don’t ask" was a theme of the presentation, and there were plenty of queries from the label converters present.
Andrew Norman finished off the evening with a presentation of Avery Dennison’s Exact program, an idea that has worked successfully in Europe and Australia that is about to find its way here.
Exact is a service program of custom size slit rolls that allows customers to save up to 30 per cent on the cost of Fasson brand PS materials.
Norman hinted that new directions and ideas were critical to the successful future of the PS market. If things stayed the same, little would be achieved.
"We need to grow the pressure sensitive pie," he said. "If we do that, then there’ll be enough for all of us."
