With products like the Docucolor 6060 bringing in revenue, Fuji Xerox has divested itself of its copy bureau chain.
Fuji Xerox has sold its chain of copy bureaux to Wellington-based print production company Astra Print. Effective 1 September, the sale involves eight Expo Digital Media copy centres in Auckland, Lower Hutt, Wellington and Christchurch. With a total staff of 80, they make up New Zealand’s largest copy company.
"This purchase is a logical and exciting move for Astra Print," says Managing Director Lawrence Evans. "It’s an opportunity to build on the strength of our brand by expanding our presence throughout New Zealand - and customers will benefit from our commitment to service excellence and major investment in digital print technology."
Evans says Astra Print has recently experienced strong growth in digital copy services and sees the acquisition as promising significant potential.
"More and more of our customers are recognising the advantages of digital copying in both cost-effectiveness and quality," he says. "We intend to be a leading player in this market, while also seizing opportunities to build our offset printing business."
Evans says Astra intends to retain the ’Expo Digital Media’ brand for the copy centres for the short term. Long-term plans include re-branding them with the Astra label and introducing new and improved services.
Astra Print was established in 1910 and offers a complete range of printing services to private and public sector clients throughout New Zealand. Independently owned, its digital media services include black-and-white and colour copying, desktop publishing, plan printing, laminating, finishing services such as trimming, stitching and binding, and distribution.
