The Swiss manufacturer of label printing presses is set to invest SF12m in a new screen printing plate production facility in the Herisau plant of Huber+Suhner. The SF12m will be spent on in state-of-the-art equipment and systems for the electrolytic coating process. Housed under the roof of Huber+Suhner, the leading international manufacturer of systems for electrical and optical connectivity, this production facility will provide Gallus with the infrastructure for this forward-looking development. The company says it also offers important synergies. Surface finishing processes are key production steps within the value chains of both companies. From 2007 the new production site will be taking over the worldwide supply of Gallus Screeny screen printing plates. The planned investment in state-of-the-art systems and process technologies will lay the infrastructural foundations for further innovations in the screen printing plate sector, as well as ensuring long-term supply.

The Gallus Group operates worldwide in the development, of narrow-web printing presses. In addition to the range of presses, the company also offers consumables and a decentralised, global maintenance and spare parts service.

Since 1999, Gallus has been in partnership with Heidelberg, now the majority shareholder. The Gallus Group employs approximately 500 persons, 300 of them in Switzerland. The group is based in St. Gallen.
