MAN Roland users clean up at US Flexo Awards
A swag of awards at the Flexo Users Group conference in the US has confirmed MAN Roland’s position as a leading newspaper press provider. MAN Roland web operations COO, Vincent Lapinski, says six of the press maker’s flexographic customers, including those using MAN Roland supported Hoe equipment, swept top honours in NPFUG’s annual Flexo Awards. “When they continue to reach award-wining levels for their quality printing, it confirms that MAN Roland is offering the right technology solutions to the industry,” says Lapinski.
Print Quality of a Test Form saw three Flexoman users take the podium positions -The Lincoln Journal Star, Ohio’s Akron Beacon Journal and the Fort Wayne Newspapers of Indiana.
In the Print Quality of a Submitted Product competition, New Hampshire’s Concord Monitor took first place printing with a PEC converted Hoe press with Hoe folder and Hoe RTPs. Second place went to Nebraska’s Lincoln Journal Star, which runs a MAN Roland Flexoman. The Chattanooga Times Free Press won third place in the category, printing on a Flexoman with Hoe RTP’s.
The Chattanooga Times Free Press also finished first in a newspaper print contest, and operations director Frank Anthony says the paper has won several awards in the US and Europe over the past three years, and he attributes much of their success to MAN Roland. “A lot of newspapers assume that as long as you can show advertisers one well printed copy, they will believe all the copies went out at that level and be happy,” explains Anthony. “With flexographic printing and MAN Roland presses we ensure each and every copy of the newspaper goes out at a prize-winning level, which benefits our advertisers and our subscribers.”
