Under the auspices of Cyber New Zealand, local printing service technician Darryl Saunders has completed and received certification in requirements for Perfecta guillotines at the Cyber facility in Singapore.

He joined nine other service technicians from the Asia Pacific region including technicians from Indonesia, Thailand and Australia. Perfecta expert Matthias Mundra travelled from Germany to Singapore to deliver the course.

Saunders says, “Matthias Mundra is the service manager in Germany so, effectively, it was the same course as he runs there. From the course, we received a certificate from Perfecta. This means we can certify the safety and operational standards on the UC and TS models. In Germany, there are regulations governing that. It not only means that we are up to date with what is happening in Europe, it also means we can certify the operational safety of these machines and so that companies here can meet their occupational health and safety requirements with these machines.”

Daryl Saunders runs Print and Graphic Electrical Services (Pages), which contracts to Cyber New Zealand. This was his first visit to the Cyber regional centre and he was impressed. He says, “Cyber has sent me to Japan for training with Ryobi before but this was my first time in Singapore. The Cyber training centre caters for staff from all over the Asia Pacific region, not just for guillotines but for any the machines that it sells. When I arrived there, they had technicians from Mongolia training on prepress equipment.”

Cyber New Zealand stocks the Perfecta guillotines at its South Aucland base. At present it has a 115TVC and a 92TVC all ready to go for customer demonstrations. The company also has Ryobi presses on the floor so clients can view the equipment in action. Saunders says, “The new model Perfecta TS has a touch screen interface that makes it easier to operate, with all the key pad and machine controls integrated into the one touch screen. The advantage of the touch screen is that you can see more of what you are doing. You get a graphic display of the sheet you are cutting and all the trim marks and you can see the different segments on it. It makes it easier to work out the most economical way to dissect a sheet. It also has programme to cut downtime.”
