Cheese maker switches to PFM packager

Australian wholesale cheese maker Di Rossi Foods has installed a new vertical form fill packaging machine and weigher to improve the reliability and efficiency of its Victorian processing plant.

Di Rossi chose the Italian designed and manufactured PFM Zenith vertical form fill and seal packaging machine and MBP C2 series multi-head weigher, supplied by Australasian outfit Emrich Packaging Machinery.

The Zenith produces closed packets with three seals from a roll of heat-sealable material, and can carry out various types of packaging. Di Rossi foods will use it to pack shredded cheese in a range of different packaging sizes.

The fill and sealer will replace a two-year old machine from another supplier which Jim Leckey, general manager at Di Rossi Foods, says required frequent adjustment by operators.

Leckey says, “Purchasing the PFM Zenith and multi-head weigher has proven to be a good decision. Its speed and accuracy have impacted favourably on our profitability, and the machinery is easy to use and maintain. Introducing them to our operations definitely put a smile on our operators’ faces.”
